Relocating Captioning Between SDI Streams Using Cobalt ANC Embed and De-Embed

In many cases where multiple video feeds are used to composite a view, captioning data can easily get lost or stripped by any number of processing devices such as scalers and compositing switchers. Option +ANC (available for numerous Cobalt cards and standalones, and available standard on ancillary data embedder/de-embedder 9950-ANC-EMDE) allows captioning ancillary data to be de-embedded from streams and then re-inserted in the processed stream.

This workflow is easily and conveniently accomplished using Cobalt +ANC Ancillary Data Embed / De-Embed and simple IP or serial connections between the embed/de-embed cards/devices. Straightforward GUI controls allow selecting the DID/SDID to be de-embedded or embedded. Although this example shows captioning relocation, note that the ANC relocation can be used for virtually any packetized data, including non-standard custom payloads.
