Ryder Cup a Swinging Success for NEP & Cobalt Digital

Behind the scenes at the 37th annual Ryder Cup at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, KY, a full array of over 350 Cobalt Digital terminal products helped NEP capture the action.

Featuring the award-winning openGear™ platform, Cobalt equipment used by NEP included 9821 downconverters, 9061/9062 up/down/cross converters, 9084 color correctors, and 9081/9083 audio muxes and demuxes.

"The beauty of a Cobalt integrated solution for all the signal processing and distribution functions is the ability to control all the parameters of the various cards from the openGear™ DashBoard™ user interface. With over two hundred feeds being processed, a common control system is essential to respond to changing needs," said George Hoover, CTO of NEP Broadcasting.

The 9821 downconverters were used to provide broadcast quality, standard definition feeds to broadcasters still working in SD. The 9084 color correctors provided frame syncing with full processing and color correction for the wireless cameras and blimps.

"We are very pleased to have NEP use the Cobalt Digital 9000 COMPASS™ cards in their production vehicles for events such as the Ryder Cup," said Chris Shaw, VP of Sales for Cobalt.

"Equipment at these live sporting events has to be reliable to meet customer expectations; there is no 'second take.' NEP's confidence in the Cobalt Digital equipment is a mark of the quality, functionality, service and support that we offer to all of our customers."
