Cobalt Digital, manufacturer of award-winning 3G/HD/SD conversion gear, and Linear Acoustic®, the leader in television audio control, have partnered to deliver the world’s first non-destructive transport stream loudness measurement and management solution.

Demonstrations of the groundbreaking technology were conducted at the IBC show on the Cobalt stand (8.A94) and the Linear Acoustic stand (8.D29). This technology will provide the answer to cost-effective, multichannel loudness management within the openGear® frame and via stand-alone products.

Cobalt Digital has announced the launch of its 9257 1x9 MADI audio distribution amplifier. The new card-based solution provides a quick and easy way to transport audio between vehicles without the need for fiber. Up to 20 input channels of the scalable DA, developed for the openGear® open-architecture platform, can be installed in one frame, making it ideal for the limited space available in trucks.

The 9086 Embedded Audio Loudness Processor, introduced at NAB 2011, enhances the manufacturer’s growing complement of award-winning 3G/HD/SD conversion gear by offering broadcasters a cost-effective solution for compliance with the CALM (Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation) act.

Gene Zimmerman, president of Cobalt Digital has announced that Bob McAlpine has been named vice president of sales, North America. McAlpine, a well-respected industry veteran with over 35 years of sales management experience, will oversee Cobalt’s highly experienced US-based sales organization. He will report to Chris Shaw who was simultaneously promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing on a global level.

CSP Mobile Productions has expanded its fleet with the addition of two HD trucks, both configured with a complement of Cobalt Digital 3G/HD/SD-SDI distribution amplifiers and conversion equipment.  CSP- HD3, a rebuild and already on the road, has supported numerous projects including the Senate debates, local Connecticut elections, the Hartford Marathon, and NBA, NHL and NFL games. CSP-HD1, a new vehicle, launched on January 1st.

Trio Video (www.triovideo.com), a Chicago-based mobile production company, recently rolled out Tempo - its newest HD mobile unit furnished with an extensive complement of Cobalt Digital’s 3G/HD/SD conversion gear.  The Cobalt equipment is being used to distribute audio and video signals throughout the vehicle, and convert high-definition signals to different levels and formats.   Chris Shaw, Cobalt’s VP of sales, made the announcement from Company headquarters in Urbana, IL.
